
Sullivan's Foods has increased their workforce safety practices, with a company wide safety contest. With a total of 15 locations and over 1,000 employees, Sullivan's Foods Corporate Office has challenged each location to achieve a zero employee accident/injury rate. Sullivan's Foods started their safety contest July 1st, 2011, with it running in 13 week increments. Sullivan's initial contest ran from July, 1st thru September, 30th. Each location reported all work related near misses, accidents, and injuries to the corporate office. A point system was developed that included points for near misses, actual injuries, restricted work, and time off from work due to a work related accident or injury. Of the 15 locations, 6 of the stores for the first 13 weeks had no work related accidents or injuries. Those locations include: Freeport, Lena, Princeton, Mt. Morris, Oregon, Savanna, and Stockton. The employees at this location were treated with a congratulatory breakfast on Saturday, October, 8th. The store with the most points, which is the losing store, received "The traveling John". The traveling John has been placed in the break room of the losing store. The losing store says that they can't wait to get him out of their store

In celebration of National Food day on October 24th, Sullivan’s Foods gave to all of their Associates an apple. National Food Day was an organized effort to bring Americans of all walks of life and in all professions, to push for healthy affordable food, produced in a sustainable, humane way. It’s a day and time to eat real, American. Its’ a day to recognize what is right and wrong with the American diet and the whole food system.
Sullivan’s Foods believes in healthy diets and working with the American Farmers. It was their way to promote buying American and the start of a healthy diet and life style for all their associates.
